I'm always looking for new interesting music in the metal realm and I had been recommended Deathspell Omega for several months. Actually I had been hearing nothing but great things about them for the last few weeks so somehow I felt that was the night to finally discover them. I ate the pizza and went back to bed (I love to lay on bed during my listening sessions). The music from the processions was somehow still leaking through the window so I was very eager to put on the headphones. And that's when it all started guys. I remember as "Obombration" started I was looking at the ceiling (it was a beautiful hotel with nice ornamentation and an overall vintage feeling). I was immediately raptured, I remember I went into a state of consciousness I had not ever experienced. If you love this album as much as I do you must know what I'm talking about. There is so much going on here guys it's just mesmerizing. I was petrified phisically, yet absolutely moved on the inside. How could a human mind conceive such a magnificent work, how was it posible to present it behind a curtain of chaos, madness and dissonance? I knew I was missing things during the voyage, everything was happening so fast and I was so enthralled I felt like a kid on his first roller coaster experience. I remember perfectly how when that amazing last part of "A Chore for the Lost" kicked in (around 7:35 of the track, I still get goosebumps) I knew the trip was coming to an end (even though I didn't know the duration of the record) it was pure instinct, I felt the artist vision, I "transcended" for the first time in my life, I became a "devotee" to Deathspell Omega instantly. I did not want it to end but I knew it was inevitable, just like death. When the trumpets of the "Obombration" outro sounded they concured with the trumpets being played outside in the ceremonial procession, completing the cathartic experience. When the album ended I could not get out of bed for half an hour, trying to understand what had just happened. I know it all sounds crazy guys but this is all very real. Not to mention Deathspell Omega became my favourite band from that moment on. When I listened to all their other albums I just couldn't believe such a great band existed. Maybe someday I'll share you my experience with Paracletus, which was insane aswell. I hope someday Hasjarl and Khaos know what their music did to me because this is beyond music, they created something entirely transcendental here and with many of their other works, and that it's something truly remarkable. Hope you guys enjoy this crazy story.

Although, I can't help but turn this into a pasta...:

Yeah, I knew it was coming Cotton haha! But I swear I felt the need to express it that way.
Btw nice dig Egarran. W.T.C. has another Split album that it's my fav split ever, the one with Abigor/Nightbringer/Thy Darkened Shade/Mortuus. It's incredible, you'll like it.

Man, The Shrine of Mad Laughter is insane, so dark, one of the ''evilest'' sounding black metal songs of all time. Super creepy sounding.

Bread of Bitterness, the section with choir after 4:32 is like one of the evilest sounding things in music- legit makes me feel like some kind of super villain

only just read about Frost's first experience with this, wow!
There is something rather magical about this DSO album in particular, which for all the great material they went on to produce has never been replicated. Unique.

While I slightly prefer PARACLETUS for a few reasons, I do agree that this is the more ‘unique’ of the two. Almost—aaaaaaalmost—reminds me of TEETHED GLORY AND INJURY in several ways.

tl;dr? i am so disconnected from the 'behind the scenes' of the music world, esp. that of black metal, so i have no idea to what this is referring, but hearing "creamface" piqued my interest
