idk i think of it as like lots of tremolo, reverb, feedback and other textures, usually instrumental, with sweeping compositions that touch on a wide array of emotions throughout the long song lengths
Slint doesn't really do this, and while they definitely set up the initial archetype for post-rock to come and were hella influential, I think I'd just call them like post-harcore / noise rock
or just Slint

Yea Slint definitely laid down the foundations for the genre. The term wasn't coined back then though
idk when the actual term came about. Sigur Ros' first album or GY!BE's first album maybe?

Oh alright. I wonder what made people call it "post rock" out of all things
|
| |
Apparently it was made up by someone reviewing that album
|

Ya hex was first i guess too slint is more of math rock than straight post rock.

Yea not only post rock. It was definitely the first of it's kind though, Spiderland. That's why people often call it the pioneering album of post rock.

I always laugh at the idiots who say that music is dead. Anyone who says that obviously has not heard

People in general say that in the world sometimes. Older people in particular. It's a shame.

That type of stuff haha. There's genuine passionate music that makes you feel, like this, everywhere. You just have to look hard enough.

yea they all seem to think that whatever is playing on the radio and is new is ALL THE MUSIC EVER MADE RECENTLY

I was talking with my grandpa one time(granted he almost is 80 so he is bound to think like this) but
he was
saying that music has gone downhill because he was describing how all the mainstream music is. I told
him exactly what I said and he even he admitted his wrongs. The radio is giving all the older people
the wrong impression.
