Exactly which is why Nile needs to reinvent their sound. But I'd check out AOTW its a great album and the title track has one of my favorite lead guitar lines in it. Its the epic one in the intro and outro.

It's on my list. I need to get a better version of ATCONK first, then I'll pick it up.

Well there considered brutal/technical death metal here and every where else, but lets not get into useless arguement's and dont be an ***.

Haha, brutal? This isn't really brutal, more technical. If you rated this a 5 then you obviously haven't heard their earlier material. *Throws party for 1000th comment*This Message Edited On 07.20.07

@hbp why would you bother getting a "better" version of catacombs? it isn't that good.

It isn't. They sound completly different. Catacombs is awesome, but AOTW is the new Nile, with Dallas, new and better production, and new riffs.

haven't heard this and it strengthens my belief that standard death metal just doesn't fit with me

I don't know if I'd call this standard death metal, I don't know but this dosn't sound much like morbid angel, old death or any other tradtional death metal band to me. Maybe I'm just crazy but to me this album sounds like a lame attempt to be overly burtal and not very much like well thought out traditional death metal a la old morbid angel. This Message Edited On 07.21.07

I missed the memo, haha, but do you agree with me that this isn't traditional death metal like as I've said morbid angel?

catacombs has a few cool moments, but the slower parts (Ramses Bringer of War, etc) are pretty damn boring. Maybe it's just me.

Serpent Headed Mask and Pestilence and Inequity are friggin awesome songs, though, I love the jazzy drumming in the latter.

Ramses is one of the best DM songs ever.

Even The Gods Must Die is a pretty cool song. So is The Essential Salts, but otherwise, not too many memerable tracks. They all add up to a 3 album, though.

The drums, triggered as ever

I think you need to learn about George Kollias.
