Seeing as how our Pumpkin album ratings are pretty similar, I can safely assure you a disappointing album. I'm sorry

It was released today here in the UK, and to be quite honest, I'm horribly disappointed. I will still give it multiple listens, but at the moment it feels one dimensional and is totally and utterly overwhelmed by Billy's voice, which is layered like 30 times in every song -_-

WHY!?

Other than the fact that Billy's voice is not that good anymore and that it's ridiculously

overpowering in the mix, I find Zeitgeist musically to be a pretty strong album. I

like it better than Machina and Adore at any rate. Do people really think

they're gonna put out Siamese Dream 2 or another disc of Mellon Collie? He'll

never hit those heights ever again, realistically. Not because Corgan doesn't have the

talent, but the 2nd and 3rd record are pretty much classics. This Message Edited On 07.09.07

I absolutely loved Adore, definitely a brave step that had some cracking ideas and a really distinctive mood through the use of the E-Bow. I sadly can't help but feel that Zeitgeist just feels like a cheap knockoff and a money making scam, with rehashed, uninspired riffs at the helm. Also, it feels rather samey thanks to Billy's constant vocal layering and solos.

But HEY, I've only just got the damn album, so possibly I'll change my mind -_-

This is basically exactly how I thought the album would be. I didn't picture it being another Siamese Dream, I pictured a good solid rock album with good songs, and that's what I got. I'm happy.

i really like this album, to me the only albums its not as good as is siamese dream and MCATIS,

his vocals sound the same to me, annoying at times i'll admit but that is what makes the band,

best track is bleeding the orchid or united states :P

Not sure whether it's fair to rate this yet, but I'll probs give it a 3 or 3.5.

My least favorite Pumpkins album, but still quite decent.

I've listened to it a lot and have let it grow. Though the latter half of the album (basically most the stuff after Neverlost) is a tad mediocore, I still enjoyed the album. Song's like "Starz" aren't bad, but they could be better. Talking of "Starz", it's catchy at first, get's a little repetitive near the middle, and the ending with Jimmy's drumming is fantastic. I'd say that "United States" is the high point of the album. It's ten minutes and it feels like a fully thought-out compusition that all together works. On paper, chanting "Revolution" seems lame, but when Corgan does it, it has a sort of special aura around it (at least for me). When he yells "You wanna watch me die!", I just get chills.

But like I said, I was a little resistant to the album when I first picked it up. It's not Siamese Dream, it's not Adore, it's not Zwan, it's not the Future Embrace; it's Zeitgeist. And I wouldn't care if the album was total garbage, as long as it wasn't a rehash of their glory days. Like you said, it's something new, something old. Overall I'd say give it a try because in the end, it's a love it or hate it.

Zeitgeist should have been on the standard edition. Its really good. Acoustic, catchy, and just really cool.

Stellar is cool, long, and feels like an epic. It's great.

No way man, the album version of For God and Country is great. The best on Zeitgeist easily.

This is their best since Mellon Collie. It is the metallic side of them coming to fruition. My only complaint is a lack of variety.

No, most of the songs are good because either you don't like his voice or you don't like good music because there is nothing wrong with Zeitgeist at all. Who are you to shove your opinion down my throat?
