The Drapery Falls is the worst opeth song. Except maybe for some of the middle tracks on Ghost Reveries, like Atonement.

im gonna have to fight you for this review.

Akerfeldt is one of the best vocalistest of all time(my personal favorite) and anyone who finds Opeth boring deserves a spear to the kidneys.

Then I should wear a kidney shield. Opeth really isn't as good as they are made out to be. Especially their vocalist who really only has two tricks. When listening to this album, it's easy to get board. The Funeral Portrait is good though.

obviously we will never agree, but to deny akerfeldt the title of a great vocalist must mean that you either dont hear the tone and inflection in his voice that makes him great, or you only like slayer vocals or really gay heavy metal shit like that.

Hate really gay heavy metal and vocalists like that. To me, akerfelt only has two tricks, that's about it. I also don't feel any passion from hiw clean vocals. He's good but doesn't try to be great in that area.

His cleans are weak. They have no feeling behind them and most of the time have lttle variation. Wish i could but i just don't "get" this band like all you friendly dudes do.

Well, to be completely objective and honest, Opeth are pretty overrated. There's nothing particularly groundbreaking about their music, and most of it sounds very similar. However, the band puts so much effort into writing their songs. More often than not an Opeth song will have above average quality in the riffs, dynamics, flow and execution.

Also, Akerfeldt is a rare find in the sense he performs both harsh and clean vocals very well, and they are tasteful to boot. Of course that last statement is an opinion, but it's a big part of what attracts so many people to the band.

Basically, Opeth have a distinct sound and there's lovers and haters of it. No different than any band tbh.

I completely agree they are a good band. They just don't appeal to me cause of the vocals and itsa little boring to me. They do have some awesome songs I just can't sit through an album of theirs. They have everything i want in a band but i just can't get into them.

He does both styles consistently well but I'd rather one was amazing and the other decent then both just good. I just want to have my cake and eat it too i guess.

but I'd rather one was amazing

I think his growls are amazing. They're extremely consistent, and he can vary his voice quite well both up and down in tone.
His clean vocals I'm not so sure about, they're good, but definitely not brilliant.

His growls are fucking amazing, I mean, seriously, they're so deep and meaty, most vocalists could only dream of getting it that naturally.
