none of nickelback's stuff is pre dark horse, it's just mediocre, but self-righteous sputnikers need

something convenient to hate on to improve their objectivity and good taste credentials

Honesty, their early stuff is pretty good. "How you remind me" is pretty good, albeit overrated and "hero" was good, and fit perfectly for the closing credits of one of my favourite films.
