I just dont agree. Of the two TPOB is stronger than TESF. In regards to NMOH, the songwriting is AT LEAST as complex in terms of structuring and layering as both of those. This Message Edited On 08.01.07

The songwriting on TESF is their most varied yet though. The midpaced stuff is absolutely golden. In fact, I can't think of a single weak track on the whole album.

Yeah, TESF is better than TPOB but just barely.

eh, to each his own. For me Athiest Peace and God's Love just dont stack up.

There is some gold on that album through.

Great Album, Amazing Live band. BR still knows how to bring it after all these glorious years.

What can I say, it's Bad Religion and they still sound like Bad Religion so that's good enough for me.

I'm not sure if I could disagree with this review more. To me, this record is BR rejuvenated and reloaded. After getting Brett Gurewitz back, The Process of Belief and The Empire Strikes First seemed like warm-ups.

The writing (especially lyrically) was a little weaker on tPoB and TESF was definitely a very solid album, but Bad Religion sound more pissed off and determined on New Maps of Hell than they have in a long time.

Yeah, there are a few missteps ("Honest Goodbye" is just not a Bad Religion song), but "New Dark Ages," "Before You Die," "Dearly Beloved" and "Submission Complete" are instant Bad Religion classics.

The lyrics are back, the songwriting is intense and well-developed and Brooks' drumming is incredible.

How is this a 2?!

So many vastly differing takes on everything this band has done and continues doing. And yet, not a single person comes to the defense of ITU, NS and TNA. Pity.

Take it from someone who couldn't have a more objective take on everything BR; ain't nothing wrong musically with prog BR (ITU), folkish BR (NS) and cheer up emo kid BR (TNA). They just made all the transitions work so well.

Listening to the New Maps Of Hell for the first time made me feel uncertain that this would be an album capable of growing on you so much. But it is, and "Lost Pligrim" gets my vote for best BR song since "Who We Are".

The band is great (one of my favorite) but the album is poor. 2 or 3 songs are good on this album and that's all. Too light to be good. I liked their last albums but not this one.

You know, I really like this album, and I thought the luster would wear off after a while, but it hasn't. I still really like it. I don't think I can list my favorites on here, because it'd be almost half the album, but I will say that I really like 'Honest Goodbye', and I don't quite like 'Requiem For Dissent'. Strange, I know...but oh, well.

As for the conversation that happened 9 months ago...well, TESF is my favorite BR album out of all of them.

"The style that they've carved out over the past 25+ years is, even at its worst, better than that of most other punk acts."

How does that justify your rating of 2 (which equals Poor)?

Are you saying that all other punk acts are releasing material that is worse than poor? wtf?

Bad Religion are awesome. The only thing I can come up with for his rating is that it's a relative score based off of BR's discography, not other punk bands.
