Always interesting to see where people split on those two - no right answer, they have such different strengths
Crooked Rain's highlights are so delicious. This one is like the scattergun ethic of Slanted + CR's songwriting + a lotta weed

This has always been me fave. Crooked Rain is essential as well.

This is a hair better than Crooked Rain for my money, has even more ramshackle charm and flows seamlessly despite (or because of?) how scatterbrained it is.
"Fillmore Jive" is my favorite Pavement song though, and one of my favorite album closers in general

Crooked Rain all the way but I respect what this one is going for ✊

Slanted all the way, but yeah this one is very good too

I would have had you as a Crooked Rain’er or maybe even a Brighten the Corner’er but you must want the ultimate lo-fi

Slanted gang yay
Brighten the Corners is like the ultimate honourable mentions album - pretty great, but no-one's ever going to stick it up top

I do love the lo-fi Doof
Summer Babe is perfection

Slanted has 5 or 6 really great tunes, I can't deny that, but the whole thing didn't hold together for me as much as I wanted it to. It'll probably grow on me more with time though.

Slanted is quirkier and more fun, it pleases me as a whole
Crooked Rain is a close second because of consistency yes

Boney - Summer Babe, Trigger Cut, In the Mouth, Conduit, Zurich and Here?
The last two tunes are a little underrated too

Am gonna guess Loretta over Conduit
That album is a glorious dysfunctional mess and shouldn't be taken any other way

I fucking love Our Singer

Saying you don't like Conduit is the same as saying 'I don't want to ever listen to any of the work of The Fall' lol

yeah Flag, 'Our Singer' is amazing and a little underrated/overlooked
Two States to Fame Throwa is maybe a bit too 'out there'/'I'm wacky' for me sometimes
Then again, Crooked Rain has the double slip of Heaven is a Truck/Hit the Plane which are just ok. The thing with Crooked is the first 7 songs are all incredible and then you ALSO have Range Life and Fillmore Jive which you could honestly make a case for being the two best tunes on the album.

Our Singer wouldn't work in anything other than the final slot, but it's perfect there
"Saying you don't like Conduit is the same as saying 'I don't want to ever listen to any of the work of The Fall' lol"
Haha true, but Loretta's Scars is a damn sight catchier the first time round

Doof - that's a pretty close guess yeah, swap "Conduit" for "Our Singer" and you've got the ones I was thinking of. That album really sags in its second half for me - I don't have much time for tracks 10-13, they're fine but don't really excite me.

"perfume-v" is maybe my favorite from slanted
