Damn this one is really good as well. Bit of a mish-mash stylistically, so it’ll be interesting to see where this settles.

'Flux = Rad' really reminds me of something and I'm currently trying to pin it down, no luck thus far. Having said that it appears on disc 2 of the Crooked Rain: Desert Origins edition, so maybe that's where the familiarity comes from idk.

The opening run here (through "Grounded", excepting "Brinx Job") is so good. This thing could definitely have been culled into a tighter and more consistent 40 minute album but I don't really mind the scattershot nature, especially since it makes it stand out from their other albums.

That’s what makes it their best bone. A ramshackle classic. There’s only one Pavement.

I do admittedly enjoy the scattergun approach here, it's on a par with Slanted early doors. Rain has a nice balance and feels like the perfect middle-ground so far.

Half a Canyon is such a perfect closer that you really have to question the need for Western Homes, I guess this is a little excessive at points so why not add yet another track, right?
I still think most of this is gold mind.

Go with the flow on this one

I’ve read that Malkmus claimed this album wasn’t meant to be heard in any particular sequence, and I can kinda see that being the case as there’s very little flow here.

Yeah, that's its biggest weakness - it feels like a fuck around
It just happens to be mostly good so you don't care too much

Precisely. Crooked Rain flows better as an album, but man I like a lot of this just as much as individual pieces.
That’s interesting Boney, makes sense. It flows like a compilation.

My most listened to artist of 2020. I might have to take this for another ride and possibly bump my rating.

Grounded is awesome think I prefer Brighten The Corners though
