It’s better than Honor, I just find some of it mildly obnoxious. The highs are still there, it just hasn’t hit the spot quite like most of their others.

At least with Honor, they admitted their age.

What does that even mean?

It means they admitted their age. It sounds like a band comfortable in their own skin and reflective thereof, not attempting to relive a sound that's behind them (i.e., Fires Within Fires...which I do like, still. More than this, actually. Reach is phenomenal.). It was softer and more contemplative, which is maybe a bias on my part in what an aging band should do.

Although maybe it's that I thought they were growing with TEOES, and this felt like a major regression of sorts. Still a solid record.

To the wind, at The end of the road, distill are all up to the standard and as solid as anything theve done before. You can accuse Fires of that even HFID to a point but to say it of this is just wrong. They still experimented with this record.

This is sadly the last good Neurosis album
