Weird one. A lot of amazing stuff, but Prophets of War and Ministry of Lost Souls join I Walk Beside You as DT's worst imo.

Yeah, sometimes you have to begin with the second listen skipping the first.

It is, but it is also the kind of song that just goes on and on and on

ITPoE Pt. 1 is such a good intro to an album, it's a shame the album had to come after it.

Yea Ministry is amazing from beginning to end, as is In the Presence of Enemies Pt. 1, damn strong opener.

Can't agree about Ministry, but I definitely agree about Prophets of War. That's always been one of my least favorite DT songs, especially with how much of a shitty Muse rip-off it is.

With that said, I just jammed this album in full last night and it's better than I remember. Forsaken and Prophets are the only straight-up weak points on the record, and the rest ranges from solid to (in the closer's case) fantastic. Just bumped it up to a 3.5

That whole middle section of the album drags it down. Forsaken is weak, Constant Motion and Dark Eternal Night are dull and boring and Repentance is actually pretty good, it just suffers from the three songs directly before it. Like, a lengthy song like Repentance won't work after 30 min of boredom, you need a banger to get you out of the slump

This and Astonishing are bottom of the barrel DT for me.

Eh... to me, Forsaken is generic alt metal with half-assed “prog” 7/8 time signatures forced in. But to each his own

'Forsaken' is a song I really enjoy, but much of the other songs are just prog wankery, far too much unnecessary sound.

I think the 'prog wankery' actually works for a song like In The Presence of Enemies Pt. 1 since it's the opener, and a very strong one at that, and somewhat for the closer too. For everything else though I strongly agree.
