I was late to the party. I had listened to the almalgamut which was a good album and I thought I'd give this a try. A rock bands first album is always the best and most gritty right?

It's definitely raw, primal and got the buzzsaw power chords that make your neck hair stand on end and some slinky bass lines but the base formula gets tired after a while. The Almalgamut was more balanced between well written songs and ballsy rock.

Hey man nice shot is the standout track and especially intense if you were unfortunate enough to see the source material. There are acoustic numbers which you can hear were the seed for 'can you take a picture' and 'where do we go from here'. Very much a debut that promised a lot but was underdeveloped.

Better things to come.

This album has a special magic to it that the band will never be able to recreate, it’s like a really nice demo by some Midwest Touch and Go fanboy band. Bass sounds great especially on Under, prob the best song here.

I always find myself comparing this to Candyass by Orgy, because while they’re both heavy and the band succeeded in establishing their own sound, both albums seem to rely on the strength of their singles and the deep cuts aren’t as well-written or developed. There’s too many same-sounding songs and not enough diversity to separate them all

No, quite the opposite lol

Title of Record and Vapor Transmission are more diverse, better produced and almost every song has more tightly written melodies. To the point where even the album tracks are on par with the singles.

Consider This is really anthemic, in an angst-ridden sort of way.

Tbh i kinda dig that Richard Patrick is like a cringe russiagate dude now, obviously not much worth taking seriously there but idk y'know he's an older white guy, could have easily gone the Other Way and it's nice to see his heart is in the right place

All that said sheesh murica really is an unforgivably shit song, no clue how he talked the label into making it a single
