I was looking forward to alot more from this since I had always liked the odd LP song. Some songs may be catchy and exemplify decent songwriting, but overall this was to inconsistent and cliche. I liked Hands Held High and Shadow of The Day though.

They should've changed their name w/ this cd. I'm pretty sure the rating would be higher, if only by a tenth of a point. Also, with two projects available, they wouldn't necessarily have to ditch their old sound and everyone who wasn't against the band would be happy, as well as some ppl who were b/c of the different sound.

I hope they have a "reanimation" for this album. It just doesn't sound LP at all. More chester and less shinoda/hanh sounds so different.

"Bleed It Out" is decently catchy, but this is a terrible album after a few listens. They had the right idea, IMO, but poorly executed. "In Between" reminds me too much of that annoying intro from the Blue October song "Into The Ocean"

I have to say i totally agree. "What I've Done" is the best track on the album although i feel its pushed (and may possibly be surpassed if i listen to it enough) by "Shadow Of The Day"

i went through this whole album and was left......'discustipated'. The only reason i wanted to hear it and was interested is because i read an interview where the guitarist said how there is a great 'progressive influence' on this album. what a dick.

imo the album is very predictable once you get over the initial "wow LP arent doing every single song exactly the same as every single other song they've ever wirtten" thing.
it's decent but nothing more.
love xo.

Awful. But honestly, what can you expect from someone who follows up with a remix album as their sophomore effort? And am I the only one taking note of the fact that EVERY single song after Hybrid Theory sounds EXACTLY the same?

Definitely music for if you're looking for reasons to kill yourself, but that's about it.

I'm really disgusted the way Minutes to Midnight has gone over. It's pretty apparent they can't make anyone happy; I don't know why. Maybe it's just over everyone's head, it just so deep and is such an amazing album. It's grown on me considerably; considering re-doing my review because so many songs have deeper meanings and are so much better when you listen to it more!

I guess only reviewers can feel the greatness of Minutes to Midnight!

Why? You have to get to know this album as with any Linkin Park CD to like it! Meteora was terrible, but M2M is great! Nu-metal=dead. Linkin Park came in with a dead genre and they picked it up off the floor.

Dude, Linkin Park didn't write some genre-changing album. They jumped on the new bandwagon. Although I do believe quite a few of the tracks had the right idea, they were poorly executed. Trust me, I've listened to this album enough. It's straight-forward music, their's no super depth to it or anything.

I didn't say they changed the genre. They jumped on the bandwagon I agree. Just like with nu-metal, they made themselves the best on top. They were not poorly executed.

Opinions differ.

This review is 100% on the point. Chester does dominate the whole album and the two only really good songs are where Mike raps. I can listen to these songs over and over a million times and it will never grow on me. And I think having the Parental Advisory warning is just plain pathetic now. They think it's gonna give them more credit or something. I mean don't get me wrong, I am a huge Linkin Park fan, it's just that this album really blows. And the thing that sucks the most is that we're gonna have to wait another 3 or 4 years for another new LP album to come out.
Dude, what type of weed are you smoking with this review? Minutes to Midnight is a step away from Linkin Park is safe with, nu-metal, and a step in the right direction. I'm pretty sure most people agree with me as well, even Rolling Stone who rips the crap out of every album gave M2M a 4/5. Stick that up your butt.
What is up with you saying these new crappy albums will be the defining one, just like you did with Era Vulgaris? Also, STOP trying to make it sound like your ratings are the right ones because other sources say it is. No one hear cares what Rolling Stone gave the album and no one care what Pitchfork gave Era Vulgaris. Stop using popular music reviewing sources as the backbone of your arguments. This Message Edited On 06.13.07

On a topic-related note, I didn't like the album very much. The worst part of the album were the lyrics, they were terrible. My favorite song was probably, "Bleed it Out." I thought it was pretty catchy, but again, shitty lyrics. The worst song on the album is easily that "Hands Held High," or whatever it is called.

I've had the album for a month or so (whatever, whenever it first came out) and since then it has grown on me... a lot more. I actually like it. Though three songs are true fillers, the other songs are truly worth listening to (if in fact you ever even liked Linkin Park or still do). I am quite aware that most of the people here quite dislike or hate this band, so this definitely won't spin any heads and make any one of you say "hey this is different" because it's not, but as someone who enjoys LP quite a bit, I actually find it more fun.
