Once you get used to the guitar sound, this album is pretty good.

dunkelheit means darkness in german, and is the translation of the word burzum, which is in 'orcish'. I think Varg maintains burzum is the correct title, but a lot of copies have it as Dunkelheit

+1 that kills the album and steals away an otherwise classic rating.

+2 and I think the song is supposed to represent what it feels like to sit in a jail cell and rot away with boredom.

This album is fucking brilliant, and it's slowly becoming my favorite from Burzum.

Varg does have some interesting beliefs (the majority of which I don't agree with) and he pretty much is a maniac, but I do think that he is a very smart man and he did not deserve a 21 year sentence, especially if Vikernes' side of the story is the truth.

I doubt his side is the truth. The guy is fucking insane.

People need to stop talking about Varg's state of mind in every Burzum review. Seriously

Yes, yes I do. I think this album is Varg's state of mind.

I heard he killed a guy. Wonder what was going on in his head at the time.

Album is probably the most overlooked Burzum album. It's always "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss this.... Det Som Engang Var that..."

I tried to make it through. I got about ten minutes in and switched to the next track. It's like a minute-long segment of an Aphex Twin song, but stretched out over 25 minutes.
