Forgot how much I love this album. Takes me back to my days of juvenile delinquency.

First three Offspring albums are best Offspring. Americana was also jammed infinitely times.

Still my least favourite of their pre-millenial stuff.

I love the album outro riff...that funky little slowed down Genocide thing. Could listen to it forever and never tire of it.

I wish Offspring had more albums that sounded as lively and vital as Smash does. Ixnay and Americana are excellent, but none of the shit they've done over the years can ever touch Smash.

Well, when it comes to energy and vitality you're right, but musically it's definitely their best, I'd say. Lyrically and vocally neither actually.
|
| |
Well, they've never been that strong lyrically.

Generally yeah, but they are for a pop punk band. Always liked their cynicism and at least it's not all about girls and endless elaborations of adolescent boredom.
Though everything that surrounds Smash has more to offer on that matter for me. Smash is just the least original. Bog-standard pop punk stuff mostly - a few exceptions of course -, Self Esteem is the best example.

Oh yeah, at least they separate themselves from other bands of the genre in that sense. Well, Smash may not be the most original, but I guess it's the album where the band's best talents all come out at the same time.

Yeah, that's probably right. Without a doubt it's Noodles best album and Come Out And Play could be the best thing Dexter has ever written.
|

Yeah, lyrically that song fucking kills it.
