Ok I fixed some of the issues with sentence structure.

Oh and as far as Aussie bands go, it's all about The Red Paintings. This Message Edited On 04.02.07

horrible album... should be listed as Young Modern by The Dissociatives (Daniel Johns and Paul Mac's side project band) featuring Silverchair on 2 tracks.

Well, it seems that this album is probably their best effort since Freak Show.

I'm all for diversity, but you need the songs to back it up. It may grow on me in time but there's very little here that's staying in my head. This should simply be a Daniel Johns solo album, the liner notes indicate this. I wish their drummer was given more rein, he's an excellent musician.

"Pete Murray is terrible"

You poor uneducated boy.

"Xavier Rudd is boring"

It gets worse!

Seriously dude both of them are very talented, Pete more so in terms of songwriting and Xavier more so in terms on musical ability. Both write and play some of the best Aussie music around. You cannot tell me that 'Fortune Teller' by Xavier Rudd isn't one of the best Aussie songs from 2005, and that both of Pete's albums aren't great.

Well you can tell me otherwise, but I'll just disagree with you.

And The Butterfly Effect, seriously, if anything is boring out of the bands you mentioned it's them. This Message Edited On 04.05.07

Looks to me like Daniel took a few lessons from George Micheal on how to write songs, either that or his gf wrote the songs for him.

This band was awesome on frogstomp and neon ballroom. They should have left it at that.

If you are a Silverchair fan from the 'Frogstomp' days you will find this absolutely different. But if you've grown to like Silverchair from say 'Diorama' and if you listen with an open mind this album is a must have! It has all the right elements for Best Rock Album of the Year, the highest credit a band could ever receive in the rock music world! It did take me a couple of listens to appreciate but these guys have done it this time!

The intricate compositions, complex song structures, orchestral arrangements, production and mixing, insightful lyrics and the wonderful first single "Straight Lines" make this album complete in every sense. Lyrics such as "Hi-jack the hurt, I feel so low" is just an example of how Daniel and the band have matured over the years, from the rebellious sounds of Frogstomp (although one of my all-time favorites is "Tomorrow").

This is an amazing masterpiece and I would definitely be surprised if it doesn't make it to the Grammies next year. It is time for a change from Foo Fighters or Red Hot Chilli Peppers or U2 to win the Best Rock Album, the time is now for Silverchair to get their due recognition! Please help take this album to the Grammies, help keep true 'MUSIC' alive.

A decent recent review, I do think you probably could’ve talked a bit more about Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou’s side projects, seeing as Daniel isn’t the only member of the band. And rather than allowing all these obviously biased comments about who the best band in the world is, closed it by saying something like “Wow, haven’t they progressed in making their sound again?” I think that was the main thing you neglected to consider.
Finally, my piece, every album they’ve made has progressed from their previous one, with an underlying message in each. Daniel has told interviewees that pushing forward with their music was and still is their main objective in making music. Now I might be just some stupid kid with a login and an opinion, but wasn’t this article about Silverchair? (That’s a rhetorical question for those intending on writing some smart arse comment back at me) Anyway, personally enjoying the new ‘and old’ albums very much and will continue to do so until I’m old and deaf.

My opinion =

Simply terrible. Silverchair were one of the last grunge bands, and now they've completely lost the beauty albums like Frogstomp encaptured. Sure, Diorama kinda strayed off the normal grunge pathway, but this album is purely a commercial piece of pop crap.

This album shouldn't have been released under Silverchair. Maybe the Dissociatives or something. This just really can't even be compared to Silverchair's older albums

I think its silly to compare what the band does now to what they did when they, and I, were 14. To me, its nice to see artists ive always liked changing and successfully creating a diverse portfolio of work. I dont think its as good as diorama, but diorama was pretty epic. Young Modern is a good fun album, and technically, really interesting. If Johns' was still complaining about the misery of his life I'd be bored.

i don't particularly like pete murray that much, yet remedy and george's helper are great songs.

diorama was their masterpiece, don't get me wrong i like this album, but i just hope they don't continue to go down this road...

anyone notice that waiting all day and low have the exact same drum intro???

this album has too much filler. some great songs ruined by some horribly forgettable ones.

the dissociatives album is better, and comes recommended by me.
