"Dumile has garnered attention for allegedly sending imposters to perform on his behalf.[23] He countered that he had lost weight and thus looked – and sounded – different,[24] before his road manager admitted the move was an intentional choice made by Dumile.[25] While the artist himself has never acknowledged this, it is widely believed by fans to be an intentional action facilitated by Dumile's hip hop villain alter ego (who would often use robot impostors of himself to confound his foes). It has become a topic among fans how he sets up gigs like robberies. For example, demanding more money to show up which if accepted by the venue, results in a breach of contract, leaving him legally sound to send imposters or even skip it altogether." --Wikipedia
i knew about this before but i never really thought about the rationale behind it. goddamn i love it when wikipedia makes me laugh

He plots shows like robberies:
In and out
One, two, three, nobody's pleased
Run the cash and you won't get a wet sweatshirt
The mic is the shottie
Nobody move, nobody get hurt
Bring heat, like ya boy done gone to war
He came in the door, and "Everybody on the floor!"
A whole string of jobs, like we on tour
Every night on the score, coming to your corner store
so many clever double entendres going on here it's insane

the one that blew my mind is nobody's pleased (at his show, because he doesn't show up) = no bodies please (performs the robbery with no killings)
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.0
and since there's no killings, he doesn't get a wet sweatshirt (from blood), much like he doesn't get a wet sweatshirt (from sweat obv) at his shows since he's not even there
|
| |
yeah I was actually wondering about the one, I had no idea what he meant. dam, hip-hop is so much work.

the other ones are simple but very well thought-out
he brings heat (a firearm) to the robberies like he brings heat to his shows (where he spits fire, aka his rhymes are on fire)
"Everybody on the floor!", everyone gets on the floor because it's a fucking robbery, and at the shows they get on the dancefloor because it's a fucking MF DOOM SHOW
"Every night on the score,"
every night they score a successful robbery, he's on the score at his shows aka performs his music, and he scores a chick every night
"...coming to your corner store"
he's gonna rob your corner store, his new album is gonna hit the stores, he returns to the store to get new condoms since he scores a chick every night
that's what i get out of it, there's more but yeah can't be bothered writing about every single line seeya
