Agree with SylentEcho. Fairly boring album with not much variety to the songs.

This is one of those albums that hits you at times, and is just boring at others. When I tried this out I had it rated as a 3.5, but then I listened to it a week later and it was almost a 5, now it's back down to a 3.5.

I love this album all the way through. But yeah, you need to be in a certain mood to listen to it, I agree. At night, before passing out is a good time. "In My Time of Need" is my favorite track.

Pretty much any album could be considered their best so it's not a surprise that you think it's their best.

i suppose so. i first got into opeth with ghost reveries, then worked my way backwards through their discog. until watershed came out. i do like them all though.

I must say that after years of being a musician and music lover - this album, to me, accurately depicts the feelings I seek in some types of music. I swear I wish I wrote this one! First Crimson album is another LP that resembles the progressive, experimental, but more importantly to me - the dark, emotive, and not so heavy metal sound that gets the idea through regardless. Feeling is so crucial in music to me, that I have almost given up on unnecessary speedy playing that lacks the FEEL that works for ME.
Enough beers for me but I find this album to be incredibly POWERFUL. No schmuck could fake this masterpiece! Could be my favorite from this well deserved group of fellas that I wish I could play with. It IS about who you know as many amazing creative geniuses never were discovered until they were discovered!
