Ah yeah, some of my real life Asian (both East and South) friends have that same issue. It is quite interesting.
And yeah, half the benefit of a beard, other than looking cool, is the protection from the elements.

Hahaha I started growing beard in 2014 because I hated how my chin was starting to look. I have no idea what I would even look like now without one. I started with the idea of growing it very long too, but 1) my wife wasn't a fan 2) it was getting really hard to not get it stuck in things, to not get food stuck in it 3) I couldn't go through its final Nasty Stage before it was a proper longboy.
Now I keep it full, but trimmed, and grow a longer mustache.
I do honestly feel bad for, but not condescendingly pity, those who are unable to grow one. Just feels right n tight. Doesn't look good on everyone, but it really does fix some of our faces LOL.

Grew a beard for the first time in a couple years this winter. It's only been a month but it's already really starting to annoy me. Not having to shave is so clutch though. I'll probably tough it out until spring.

Atomic just put up some pictures of his wedding from a little over a year ago, and that was before I grew out my moustache, and now I look weird to myself in those pictures. Also, my hair was substantially shorter.

Shit I even use one of those beard bibs you can buy off Amazon to catch all the falling hair. Makes for a much easier and faster clean up.
