I wish this album didn't overshadow Clarity and Futures because both of them are dramatically better than this. Sweetness and A Praise Chorus are some of the best songs ever but none of the others on here come close to them and there a few songs I outright will never like.
It's almost wild how superior Clarity and Futures are.

Well Bleed American and Authority Song are two that I fuck with heavy. I think the album is just pretty good overall. It's too inconsistent for me.

I always used to hate the middle because it was so overplayed and mushy but in retrospect a very nice/uplifting tune

Perhaps I was too harsh. It's fine. The solo is indeed good. It's just wildly overplayed.
I went to see them and Manchester Orchestra recently in SF, and they were fun as hell. Last song, Adkins chugs the rest of his beer, says "fuck it let's do this" and then they play The Middle. I'm sure they've played that song many thousands of times at this point lol.

The solo is great in The Middle. I think I'm mostly just tired of the song. It's good but I think it's far from one of their best. Maybe I heard too many cover bands play it at bars when I was in college.
