«Good Charlotte is just rock. Not punk, not pop... just Rock. They have always been a rock band. They have catchy tunes, and the only reason you guys hate them as much as you do, is because they got rich and famous... with a song about how they hate rich and famous people. It makes me giggle when I see morons say "Derp... those idiots wrote a song about how being rich and famous is stupid, when they are like Rich and famous" SHUT THE F*CK UP! They were neither rich, nor famous when they wrote that song.»
what a larf. they didn't write that song. EMI did it for them.

It really annoys me that every pop-punk band feels the need to 'grow up'. They have a place in the world, writing catchy, throwaway songs -and a lot of them are very good at it. But all these albums that are coming out with 'grown up' sounds are embarassing.
I second this.

Does it matter what genre they are really ?
I have this album and its ok, not great.
3/5

I bought that GC album, listened to it twice and never again so far. It's an alright album but not really to my taste. I don't really like GC in the first place.

Good Charlotte Is...
1. Not Punk Rock!!!
2. Simple Riffs and Cut My Wrist lyrics
3. Goes along with Good Charlotte as poseur pop rock.
4. Liking Simple Plan does not make you "Hardcore"
5. They will never be punk rock. Never.
Good review though.

Firstly, It scares me how much some of you mistreat the English language.
Secondly, I like Good Charlotte. I do NOT like 'I Just Wanna Live' and all of the other crap.
Thirdly, I highly doubt any of you haters have heard anything of theirs besides 'I Just Wanna Live' and 'Girls and Boys'. Listen to their first album. The lyrics may be kind of naive, but it was their first album.
Finally, when the heck did the genre of music you like have anything to do with how you dress?

Punk is far-fetched from GC. Pop-Punk...of course a little punk. I think Atomic Pink is more punk than these guys!

I hate Good Charlotte. I can't respect them. I tried and tried to understand WHY people like them. I came to the conclusion: "everyone else does." Also because of their "catchy" rhythms. I myself find them just annoying.

It's acually not that bad of a record. Sure, they are overplayed everywhere but they have some decent music. Great review. I do like thier cd "The Young and the Hopeless"

Serious question for people who feel that Good Charlotte are misrepresenting themselves. Isn't the entire fundamental attitude of Punk about rejecting conformation and convention and doing what you want? Why, then, are people saying that because they don't sound like so and so and don't dress in this or that specific manner, that they have no credibility? If they're doing something different from what every other "punk" band is doing, isn't that the essence of punk? If not musically, at least philosophically?

I borrowed this cd from my sister on a rainy day when there was nothing to do. I listened to it all the way through and i really didnt like it. From the super lame rapping and high pitched voices in " I just wanna live" to the ultra annoying "we believe", it wasnt good at all. "The Truth" was the only thing that even interested me a little, and thats because im a sucker for piano. I have listened to the previous albums and thought they werent all that bad, so i thought this one would be like them too. I was wrong. The whole "lets grow up and write darker lyrics" didnt work for them. 1.5/5
i wouldn't call gc pop punk i would more say there emo-pop still what does there genre have to do with anything thats the one thing that good charlotte has been made fun of most for did they ever say they were pop-punk they said they were punk because when they started they were younger and more naive looking at there favorite bands like rancid and saying i want to be like them and alot of people do that, so why should we say gc cant, and yes they all stole billys look and billy has not sold out JOEL has he went from denim jackets to all black he sold out not the hole band and benji has always been like that.
1. Learn grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
2. Get educated on what emo is.
3. Shut up.
Damrod, you have balls for reviewing this. Quite frankly, a few friends of mine ( ) had this. I gave it a listen, and hated it with a passion.

I hate GC with a passion. They are annoying prissy sellouts. I hate pop punk altogether, not that they are more than simple pop. It's quite sad that bands like this can make so much money with such pathetic excuses for music.
Great review. I woulda given GC minus 100 stars though. *witty grin*

My brother bought this and I gave it a listen. I was surprised to see hear it wasn't so terrible. I wasn't a fan of the Young and Hopeless, but this album really surprised me. In this World (Murder) is a really cool song. It sounds a bit like the Deftones actually.:amaze: Still a lot of filler on this. This Message Edited On 01.28.06

Just another band thats trying to fit in and isnt doing it very well.

I don't like them. They annoy the hell out of me. What makes me curious is they "never claimed to be punk" but dye their hair pink and dress all in black. This just my opinion though so make of it what you will.
|
| |
um pink hair and dressing black does not make you punk. what the hell are you talking about?
So is Johnny Cash punk? This Message Edited On 04.11.06
