You're saying that 45 seconds of the band chanting is enough to drag the album down for you? Skip tracks if it's that big of a deal.

I love this album. Although they are not full pledge black metal, they are most certainitly not a gothic metal band. At least not just. Maybe a bit of both.

bad-ass band
but after an hour of straight up cof
they get sort of annoying.

Man this album owns. Favourite tracks are Cthulhu Dawn, Lord Abortion and Amor E Morte. Great review, as always. I thought Cradle Of Filth would be harder to like, but nope, they're pretty easy to get into. Or maybe my tastes have just gotten heavier. Whatever, I like them now. And you're all wrong, their best song ever is From The Cradle To Enslave.

I just picked up this album, and I've listened to the first six songs. Cthulhu Dawn owns, but I don't support your opinion on Amor E Morte. Maybe it'll grow on me. So far, a 3.5-4 album.

I have most of the tracks off this album, and I have to say it is one of their heaviest. IMO, there top 2 albums are "Midian" and "Cruelty and the Beast". Great review.

Well, there we are... MIDIAN. I think that is enough to describe my opinion about this CoF masterpiece. It is the one who dragged me into the band, and since that, i collected all the albums they have. But this album will always keep an very special place in my heart...

From the lyrics to the use of instruments; one word:

MIDIAN

I love this album. By far Cradle of Filth's best. Lord Abortion is my personal favorite.

This is one band who had hype that I just could not understand, maybe they hit it big because of the vampire/goth gimmick, who knows, but for me the tunes dont stack up. Iam not the worlds biggest thrash/black/death metal fan but this album is very un accesable. This is a total chore to sit and listen to, and let me say that is not a good thing. Save your money or invest it elsewhere, I wish I had.

This album would be great, except for the absolute flood of symphonic elements and atrocious vocals. I like the rifflies, though.

Not sure when I got Midian, but I have it... kinda stange. This CD sort of drags toward the end and I'm not seeing anything great about it.

This is probably one of my top three favorite albums of all time. It is unique, imaginative, overtly gothic and dark; really a dream come true. I also must wonder why this did not get a 5, if your only critic was a small 40 second mantra reading?

No, no, yes, only if you dream about silly pseudo-extreme metal.

by far their magnum opus, it was all downhill from here. while they 'bitter suites' had some songs worth while, and 'damnation' had even fewer, i cant say that this whole in bed with 'bam' has done them good. aside from dani being the only original member now, hes also fat. bands such as these should NOT be fat, i mean the makeup is already a little hokey, let alone adding some weight to the guys. anyway, pretty good review, i pretty much agree.

album highlights:

-cthulu dawn

-lord abortion

-her ghost in the fog

One of COF best. Just about every song on here kills except for Satanic Mantra which is a complete waste of space even though its only 50 seconds.
