i have no intentions of listening to a pop punk double album and i find Alkaline Trio to be mediocre as fuck, so i dont think ill ever be jamming In Defense.

haha part of the skiba thing was a joke but i genuinely think it’s their most interesting work cos of how well max writes songs around the guest appearances which i also love most of (matt’s not even the best considering the church channel and surgically removing) not liking alkaline trio will not mean you won’t like in defense

its pretty good, and some of the highlights almost compete with this (the church channel for example) but i still think this has a distinct sense of magic and poignancy that max has never recaptured

and also yeah i think everyone does that to a little degree. hebrews is my second fave and has aaron weiss and gareth campesinos features but also that album is so intersting to me, and songs like judas decapitation are up there with the best they've ever written

s/t is also rad i need to jam it more

yeah s/t is super sick. cemetery is up with the bands best. the run from this to that is def among pop punks absolute best. hebrews is really good but unlike in defense i think a lot of the guest spots are kinda out of place (brian sella most notably and nibble nibble just sounds like an angels and airwaves vocal track spliced into the song) but it’s still easily his best since the self titled

my only issue with this is Yellow cat and The Futile being back to back, it kinda ruins the flow of the album

this is the hill i'll die on. the song "crush'd" alone pretty much invalidates any good song bemis had ghostwritten for him.
