I dusted this one off for the first time in long while yesterday and I was surprised how much I still liked it. Good album by a real good band. Also, In my opinion, The comparison between the Archers and Pavement is incredibly off-base. Pavement were a pretentious and snarky band in their heyday. I don't think the Archers cared about being cool, they just made good, earnest, no bullshit rock n' roll.

'Now I’m not saying that Icky Mettle is any Slanted & Enchanted or Keep it Like A Secret'
it is though. Web In Front is up there with the best songs of the 90s
'you're not the one who let me down, but thanks for offering'

"I never really thought this sounded anything like Pavement"
Me neither, but I remember the Archers and Pavement getting compared to each other A LOT back in the diz-ay. Moral of the story: The Archers rule and Pavement can eat my fucking dick cheese.

this rules so hard. I wanted to comment on a White Trash Heroes thread (I like that one better, barely) but it doesn't have a review. I will have to fix that in the near future.
but yeah, Archers of Loaf fucking rule. more people on this site need to wake up and smell the indie-rock. these guys were fucking trailblazers (ps fuck Pavement)

pavement are way better but this is still in the top 10 indie albums ever but sputnik doesn't like indie music with guitars so no one listens to it.
