Following a switch of drummers & the addition of a 3rd guitarist, Alesana come out swinging on debut LP 'On Frail Wings Of Vanity And Wax'. Dennis Lee's screaming has thankfully improved a little, with the now sextet basing their lyrics around Greek mythology! The triple guitar attack often finds a nice balance between technicality & catchiness, although in looking for chaotic energy, many tunes turn messy & begin to bleed into each other. Kudos should be given to Alesana for fusing toghether their influences, but the band is definitely still a work in progress. Recommended Tracks: Alchemy Sounded Good at the Time, This Conversation is Over & Congratulations I Hate You.

Gyro, before I had heard an album from these guys, I (sort of) saw them live & they were absolutely horrendous. I was also surprised that they are significantly better on record.
