I liked Seize the Day, especially after that solo. The video was stupid though.

Once again, and Ive said it many times, great review Mikesn. The musicians are awesome, but their lead singer has the worst, nasely singing. If only they could find a better singer, than they would be pretty solid.

I wouldn't mind hearing them with a different vocalist.

Ok, well I really like this album and WTF, and I'll be honest, M Shadows is not a good vocalist, however, whenever I listen to it I really can't find a reason that he is a terrible one that brings the music down. It just clicks for me. Oh well.
/preparing to get shat on by haters.

This album only has one high point on it....Blinded in Chains breakdown....other than that nothing impressive...one b/c the drummer uses triggers and two the whole image they're putting out there u tend to get an almost poser feel from it...

good review. I love this band. I think WTF is not as bad as you say it is, i like that album equally but for diffferent reasons.
Shadows may be a bad vocalist but i think he compliments the music well in this band.

I think Shadows' new style works very well with the music they are playing now. It will be interesting to hear their new record.

Shadows may be a bad vocalist but i think he compliments the music well in this band. This, and that's why he hired a vocal trainer. His WtF singing didn't fit the sound on City of Evil.

His WtF singing didn't fit the sound on City of Evil. Imagine if he would have tried that. Good lord this record would blow...

This is easily their best album. Is strength of the world about the singers family dying or something? sounds like it in the lyrics but it might be metaphorical...anybody know?

I don't think there's any hidden meanings. It looks pretty straightforward, especially with that acoustic intro. I couldn't tell you for sure though.

Sounds kind of like a Clint Eastwood movie, honestly.

Yeah, now that you mention it I think they did say it was based off some movie.

This album doesn't even come close to WtF as far as I'm concerned. Also I don't see why Shadows is a ''bad'' vocalist..? On the previous album he used diverse styles of singing, with the Hetfield and Anselmo influences and then some really good clean singing. Plus I always thought his screaming was good because it's recognizable.
I do agree his current style fits this music more though.

Plus I always thought his screaming was good because it's recognizable.
Recognizable doesn't automatically mean good. And it certainly doesn't excuse his awful technique.

This was my favorite album ever for quite some time, and avenged sevenfoild was my favorite band till I got into bands like Children of bodom, SOilwork, Wintersun, and all those other godly bands from Scandinavia. Before, this and Waking the Fallen both ouldve gotten fives, but now I just gave them both 4's. STST was okay, but not too good.
M.I.A. is the best song on the album, trashed and Scattered is a close second.
