Exactly. It's soft and serves no purpose other than being radio friendly. I was overseas when they released Swing Life Away as a single and when I heard it at a college bar, I wanted to stab myself in the rectum with a railroad spike ten times.

The song doesn't suck because its emotional. It sucks because its accoustic and soft. To me, it came off as a forced effort to show that the band is rangy or whatever.

I don't particularly care for Swing Life Away either. It doesn't suck, buut it's one of, if not the weakest song on the album. Roadside is much better.
This is my least favorite RA album, but Rumors of My Demise, Paper Wings, Tip the Scales, and Dancing For Rain are all awesome songs.

Another awesome review from Mike. The album takes a little bit of adjusting when Sufferer and the Witness introduced me to the band. This is a tiny bit more raw, and works pretty well in that regard. "State of the Union" completely owns "Chamber the Cartridge", too.
