You know, I'm fairly sure they're not black metal. Cradle of Filth themselves have apparently said for years that they're not playing black metal.

I'm pretty surprised I haven't gotton more posts from people who hate the band. But it looks like all the anti-Cradle people are starting to notice this review. But as long as you people keep posting I don't really care what you want to say about the band.

Firstly, nice review. The lyrics on nymphetamine are genious, probably in the top 3 best ive ever heard and im not even a fan of Cof.

"Six feet deep is the incision, inmy heart a barless prison

discolors all with tunnel vision

sunsetter...nymphetamine

sick and weak from my condition, this lust, a vampyric addiction

to her alone in full submission

none better...nymphetamine

they're still the *closest* to Black Metal, even if they're "not black metal".

That's right. I always thought that Cradle had excellent lyrics. The lyrics come with every album, and it takes like two pages to get through one song. They're very deep and poetic - lyrically this is one of the best bands I've ever seen.

they're still the *closest* to Black Metal, even if they're "not black metal".

What do you mean by that?

ah yes, v good review. although 'bitter suites to succubi' was perhaps one of their worst, a let down album, i found a few songs still particularly good, esp suicide and other comforts.
maybe thats jus me tho
nymphetamine has certainly resotred faith in CoF, and shown a promising future path too, they could continue melodic for a while i think

I heard Bitter Suites to Succubi completely blew in all honesty, but they could stay with this style for a while.
Plain and simple I hate Symphonic Black Metal. To me, it seems like an oxymoron. This band, however, takes it to a new level. I think that CoF is like the N'Sync of metal. I mean, never before have I heard of a band with such a lead singer. And what I mean by with this is that he IS the band. No one cares about the music, just about how "evil" he is. And secondly, how the fuck can they be Black Metal? They have fucking LOVE songs for God's sake! CoF is an embarassment to metal. If you want good English BM, listen to some Anaal Nathrakh, not some little pop-metal pussy band.

hehe anaal nathrakh r the band tht takes themselves way 2 seriuosly n actualy uses grim as a serious word http://inm.necrobation.org/ now theres some proper grim

Sorry if I offend anyone, this band makes me mad.
Care to elaborate why it is a oxymoron to you?

And how can they take it to a new level when there has been far poppier metal bands that have been way more famous?

And to say "no one cares about the music, just about how "evil" he is", is a quite ignorant statement since you do not spokesperson for every one in the world.

And so what? A band with a vocalist with a crazy range does different vocal styles, is that a crime? Graveworm is pretty much like Cradle Of Filth, only they are from Italy, yet I don't see them get this kind of crap like Cradle does.

And Cradle Of Filth is not black metal, they are on the verge of gothic metal if you would read the lyrics since gothic music tends to have alot of romance themes in their music. And CoF has never wanted to be called black metal or do they claim to make black metal.

I would also hardly call Cradle Of Filth poppy, their lyrics do not seem very poppish to me nor does their sound. Just because alot of people like the band and the band produces their music well does not make them a pop band.

And stop trying to be a hardass dropping band names to make your self look "tr00" and "grim", it does not work.

^^^^^ Nice. :thumb:

In all honesty, I think Cradle is horribley misunderstood. They've said publicly that they're not a black metal band anymore, so I don't see why people keep bringing back the 'black metal poser' thing. Much of their stuff has obvious black metal roots so they could be a distant releative of the genre, but it's a plain fact thet they're not black metal.

And saying that it's not about the music anymore and it's just about how evil he is is the stupidest, most idiotic statement. I'm pretty sure you don't know him personally so you can't seriously say he doesn't care about the music. If he didn't then Cradle would probably just be putting out the same reptitive shit ever two years instead of trying a new style and doing something different with every album (which they do).

Yes, I think they are misunderstood in away, or the Kvlt Kiddies are just trying to be a hardass...

And I think he meant the people who listen to the band, as in the people that listen to the band don't care about the music only the evil image Dani puts off...

Either way I disagree. I could care less about the image because I love the music. Many of my friends love the music, and I'm assuming you do too. Saying that it's the fans who don't care about the music I think is even more ridiculous.

Have you had no experience of "goth" kids? The ones who wear black lipstick, white makeup, black nail varnish, black clothes, and listen to Green Day, Marilyn Manson and Slipknot, and then (the really evil ones) CoF and Dimmu Borgir?

Maybe it's more a British thing, but it really can't be denied that a lot of them claim fanship of the band just because of the image.

I really fail to see the difference between "goth" metal and black metal, except for lyrical themes

Yea, this is true. But he still can't speak for every one that listens to the band...

I think the fans like that is what really gives this band a bad name...

Quite honestly, if I had never seen the band members or any of their fans, I still would dislike them just as much.

It's the fact they 'sold out' to a big name label, and Dani constantly states in interviews he hates being interviewed, yet accepts all of them. I consider CoF an underground Limp Bizkit, the rest of the band are all excellent players, but the singer wrecks it for them

Neh, I don't really pay attention to the band members or members of bands in general, I just pay attention to the music.

I could also careless what record label you are on, as long as you make music I like to hear I will listen to it.

People seem to be a little bit to critical of bands nowadays I think...
