I heard "Imagine" and while it's decent, I don't see why APC had to make it all minory and sinister.

If they'd just done a completely faithful cover, you'd have people complaining that a band with such talent had been so lazy as to not change the songs at all.
|
| |
I don't know why people are reacting so negatively to it. It's still an excellent song. Different, very different, but still quite good.
I didn't like Fiddle and the Drum at first, but it grew on me.
It's a shame they didn't include a studio version of Diary of a Madman(or Love Song, whichever) I love that song.. Good review though, as I didn't know how the heck this'll sound like.
That's my favorite APC song.
If they wanted different vocals on this, they should have let Iha sing. He has a pretty good voice for slower songs.

eMOTIVe is an album of a dynamic translation from a previous generation to a modern date; led by the minds of Billy Howerdel and Maynard James Keenan. The album was choreographed in a manner of building the listener up to a high and then to a low in order to evoke an emotion. All but two songs on eMOTIVe were re-engineered (a.k.a.: a cover). Each cover on the album seemed to have the feeling of been broken down to its core components, re-fabricated then fine tuned into a product of self-subjective vulnerability perusable to an image that only A Perfect Circle could have produced. All said eMOTIVe struck me to be controversial ONLY due to the times we live in today. This album is vary positive in nature but only to address issues such as war, greed, ignorance, peace, and love. I personally felt this album to be a wise choice and a wise selection by A.P.C. to venture into past relevant emotions and revamp them to todays troubling times. (ex: the drum line dubbed almost symbolize the division and confusion in the nation today on the song “Let’s Have a War”) I believe that A Perfect Circle achieved in making a masterpiece that the listener will walk away with some kind of emotion and opinion. I give eMOTIVe a 5 out of 5. – what’s so funny about peace love and understanding? --

^^^
I have a very strong suspicion that that was stolen from somewhere.
and also
ALL the songs were re-engineered...
Counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of war drums is a remix of Pet
and passive, although the lyrics were written by maynard, is a cover of the song Vacant by a different project of Maynard's called Tapeworm. Tapeworm has yet to get off the ground.....if it ever will
:-/

And your line-up is horribly wrong. Actually, it is quite right except that Danny Lohner and Paz Lenchantin were on the record as well.
|
| |
That's because he changed it.

Tapeworm is done. I read an article that confirmed it a while ago. It's too bad.
I'm still hating this album. It never grew on me. It just keeps getting worse.

I really like when the levee breaks and fiddle and drum... those are the top two tracks in my opinion, but I think the overall album is decent. By no means is it 13th step or Mer de Noms, but it is a cut above the norm of rock these days
|
| |
I really wasn't a fan of this at all.
Not to be harsh, but I thought they butchered some of those songs.
To be fair though, I really enjoyed 13th Step.

Fiddle and the drum is really awesome, but I can't stand their cover of WtLB.....I think they did it extremely bad

i personally thought this cd sucked. only like, 3-4 good tracks
|
| |
I listened to it on my way to a band show last night .I like the remix of the original counting bodies one.
|
| |
now i just ripped it..this is an encredible album. I enjoy it much.

I heard "Imagine", eh not that great. I also checked "When the Levee Breaks" I thought that was terrible they shoulda left that one alone. The tone is just a bit overdone overall to me, like they were trying too hard.
|
| |
I never cared for the original "Imagine," but I like APC's version. It's a lot darker. The album is weak for APC but worth the money. I WANT NEW TOOL

After a couple more repeated plays, I found the only way you can really enjoy the album is to avoid thinking about the originals. Kind of ruins the purpose behind the concept, but I don't think it was executed very well.... if it is as just a collection of original songs, at least you can call it some weird avant garde album.
