I'm re-listening to all of these albums after having not listened to them for about 3 months. My tastes have changed a lot in those months, so far I'm appreciating this much more than I did before.

This is always better than I remember it to be. More of Myself to Kill is probably BTBAM's best album opener.

I think I like this more than Alaska.
Fire For a Dry Mouth is fucking awesome.

This album is a classic. Fuck all who disagree. It is their best release. The Silent Circus being a close second.

The terrible production kills it

The production is good. The songs just aren't as varied as later albums. This is their worst album but is still good.

Great review. Great album, it takes some time to get used to but once you got it figured out it really is "ear candy". And the quote about the "King Diamond" moment is hilarious and truthful. I absolutely adore this album and I like silent circus as well but I listened to it just a few times until now. Really beautiful music and with big fat meaty Balls as well...

Don't get me wrong, this is a good album by all means but the last two songs felt pretty boring to me.
edit: Also, I'm checking these guys out from first album to the latest so if they really do get better than on this, then I'm sure as hell in for a treat.

The first song at first cracked me up with the squeals and then it blew me away.
Spluger I'm in the same boat. I'm on a tour of "pure" metalcore, starting with this band.
I get a Sounding the Seventh Trumpet feeling from this debut album (good thing for me). No disrespect to A7X haters but his highs are kind of like how M. Shadows used to do them (as in during their first few years)

What I'm noticing is that while the band may have a lot of interesting riffs and such, it flows decently only half the time and some times it seems they just pull complex stuff out of their asses as I could just play a bunch of random notes in a nice fashion on my guitar. Needs a bit more structure is what I'm saying, but I still enjoy this album a lot even with some flow and repetitious problems.

I honestly was liking this band, but the more I listen to them, the more I am disgusted.
Boring, thoughtless dragging riffs for the verses and then some great segments that go without a rewarding structure. Also, the sequels really are not my thing. It's disappointing to have to change my rating when there really are a lot of shining parts here. They just love to drag on with bullshit boring riffs when they aren't doing any thing crazy or interesting.
I like converge, but these guys do whatever that shit is called in a very bad way.
