Be honest Ars this would be a 2.5 for you if it had any name other than PJ Harvey on it.

Actually that's basically what you just said.

Other than this and Uh Huh Her, she's soooo good though, even Hope Six gave me chills in a lot of places

Love this album. Maybe my second favorite PJ album. So much range, and PJs vocals at her peak. One of the best albums of the aughts.

'Big Exit' & 'The Mess We're In' are sooooo good. Not sure where this stands amongst the other PJ albums I've heard yet, the better songs here are excellent, not sure I dig everything though.

Hard to say, as she's known for often making wildly different albums. This is also probably her most straightforward release. I guess "Is This Desire?" if you like or don't mind things a bit jazzy, minimal, electronic, grungy. Otherwise "To Bring You My Love", which finds her going in a blues direction.

I almost feel guilty in thinking the best track here features Yorke, but this does provide it a distinct advantage over the rest. Excellent album regardless. 'Is this Desire?' is still my fave from the four I've heard, maybe I should check her more recent stuff.

I mean it's top 4

Most of this is just "basic indie rock" compared to her discography on the whole, but that one is one of the few that transcends that

I agree that it's a little basic at times, PJ carries the album despite it's faults, somehow. Maybe I've been overly kind, but the best tracks here are still very enjoyable and I prefer to rate albums that provide those highs more favourably than ones which plateau at 'decent'.

Check White Chalk, it's hauntingly beautiful and unique

White Chalk is a fantastic album, sounds like a chamber version of Goldfrapp

Chamber 'Felt Mountain' era Goldfrapp? Wow, that would be cool (wishful thinking). Yeah I’m going to check that one and ‘England’.

Pretty much (more Tales of Us though) but tender instead of creepy! Damn, really need to get on England too...

Boy do I ever love this album. I'll have to jam her others again soon. We Float gives me goosebumps every time.
