Albini seems pretty easygoing to me, at least in his educational vids where he's telling people how to record/talking about recording. I also love a lot of records he's done, like the GYBE album Yanqui U.X.O., for example. Love the sound of that record.

Christ if Albinis version of events is true and I was on that shuttle bus with Odd Future I’d have absolutely gone mental. What an absolute bunch of bellends.

Sometimes I wish Corgan’s voice wasn’t so grating, because there’s some solid musicianship on here.

all that talk of Albini made me realise that I probably prefer his own music to pretty much anything he produced, which is maybe a slightly unusual opinion idk. He’s certainly more revered as a producer and for good reason given his legacy, but man Big Black & Shellac had some incredible material.

Best Albini produced Albumi is Surfer Rosa
Songs About Fucking, Goat, Liar, In Utero and Rid of Me cool too
Good producer

Times of Grace and A Sun that Never Sets are also his best production work. The guy is a genius capturing the core of a bands sound.

Yeah, was gonna say A Sun That Never Sets. His work on Hymn to the Immortal Wind and that are both gorgeous, v different and important aspect of his craft
Surfer Rosa is probs not his best production and certainly not the best record he's be involved with lol

You say that like it’s some objective fact
|

Surfer Rosa's weird because there are days when I think it's the best production I've ever heard and days when I think it sounds like pure ass, which it does. It certainly fits the whole sound/aesthetic of the Pixies at the time, don't know how many albums have as coherent a relationship between the music and the art/packaging

Yeah one of the biggest strengths Surfer Rosa has over what came later is how raw it is production wise
I love Doolittle, but it’s secretly a bit too sleek sounding
Bossanova is such a harder left in style though that the sleekness works perfectly but uh idk I love all pre breakup Pixies

I admit my Neurosis infatuation started and ended with Times Of Grace. Love the music, kinda hate the vocals.

Get back on it Egarran, Neurosis has some of the best stuff out there (especially the era you haven't expanded into)
