Ho boy, I'm starting to think Darcy was pretty much Corgan's quality control

Every new SP announcement brings dread rather than excitement. Like if this new “sequel” is bad it’s going to taint this in some irreversible way, which I’m not prepared for. Honestly Billy needs to rein it in, i think it’d be a much better look if he puts out a ten track album of solid songs every five years or so, no conceptual baggage or chart-topping aspirations

He NEEDS to work with a producer that will push back, and I don’t mean fucking Rick Rubin.

He needs to be produced with a rawer sound and focus on quality over quantity like others said. A guitar talent such as that of Billy shouldn't go to waste.

It was this albums 25th anniversary yesterday so I gave it a listen. Even though I’m not really a big rock music guy anymore, this album will always be special to me, it’s like a huge, awesome celebration of “rock” and all it’s possibilities. I remember my brother bought this CD when I was like 9, and listening to it on the car on the way home blew my mind just from the sheer stylistic diversity in the first few songs.

I still really dislike Corgan’s singing voice, but at least I’ve reached the stage of acceptance and enjoying the music regardless. Surprised by the variety here but really shouldn’t be after all the interviews I’ve seen of Corgan praising a wide range of bands.

His voice is perfect for this album imo. Like I really can’t picture anything else, especially something more conventional. I honestly admire how his songs were so strong that he still got millions of people on board around this time, despite having that voice.

Yeah I can see that. It is impressive whenever a band bucks a convention and remains popular. Upon first listen, this is one of those albums.

I post this all the time in regards to this band: can you imagine anyone else singing these songs and doing them justice? Billy has a limited voice but it fits perfectly for his songs (at least back when he was writing good ones).
