I remember being so obsessed with CoB that when I got enough money I bought an Alexi Laiho Jackson V. Learned as many songs as I possibly could. Some of the cleverest riff writing ever. Even the simple backing rythm sections I couldn't wrap my head around how he came up with them. With Hexed it felt like he was returning to form, and I couldn't wait to see what he had next for us. Hard loss. RIP.

My first CoB and extreme metal album, and listening to it now, I think I like it even more than I thought.

Knowing how he lived, it’s actually kind of insane that he made it as long as he did. Still sucks balls. Anyone who has seen it first hand knows that alcohol induced liver failure is a fucking terrible way to die.

Powermetal? Is this not melodic death metal, then? Either way, just listening to it now and digging it hard.
