This is a vast improvement over A Crow... but still not the vintage Incubus I've grown to love.

Bring back Dirk!

In order for me it goes...

'Dig' is in the running for song of the year, in my book. Haven't heard the rest yet

Hm, Dig is a grower. This album has gotten much better with repeated listens...

Anyone else think this is a concept album, or just more of an "Album" than Incubus has ever put out before. Maybe its the outro of Earth To Bella Pt. 2 and the Intro of Quicksand, but it certainly has a different feel to it.

yeah, this album definitly got better with the second and third listening. this cd feels sorta short though, i was expecting almost a hour or little over an hour long. i have faith though that this will grow more and more with time.

well, im off to listen to light grenades again...

yeh this album is definately a grower. i wasnt really pleased with Anna Molly and Love Hurts IMO, so my hopes were dashed. After hearing songs like A Kiss to Send Us off, Light Grenades, Earth to Bella and Pendulous Threads, I was definately pleased with the album, definately not their best with a few songs that are skippable (Oil and Water, & Diamonds and Coal).

Paper Shoes is awesome, the rest typical Incubus stuff; a mixture of great and decent songs.

I finally got my copy of the CD. I'd have to agree with your rating. It's good, but some songs just don't cut it. Oil and Water is flat out boring, Diamonds and Coal is only slightly better, and A Kiss To Send Us Off is one of the worst Incubus songs I've ever heard.

But who knows, maybe these songs will grow on me.

Aside from the ones mentioned, the rest is pretty awesome.

The drum sound is incredible.

I can understand why people might find A Kiss to Send Us Off annoying, but I don't find the whole "kiss to send us off" anthem annoying. I suppose some people do.

This is another sensational Incubus album. Yes, every song sounds new and different , and yes, one song doesn't tie to the next and form a 'cohesive album'. But who the hell wants a cohesive album, many people have sugggested this brings the albums quality down, but my friends there are 13 individual songs on here - who has time to sit down and listen to them one after the other. Don't know about you guys but I'm a random jumper depending on what mood i'm in, Dig, to Paper Shoes to Earth to Bella, I don't want an album to be telling a story making it imperative to listen to it all in the one sitting. Let it tell many different stories.

Many people have commented that songs such as Oil and Water and Diamonds and Coal pull the album quality down. This is total rubbish. These are classic, feel good easy listening Incubus rock songs and Brandon's lyrics are as great as ever, not political on these tracks, he's just loving life on these tracks. "You and I are like oil and water and we've been trying to mix it up".. a simple but very ingenious line.

A Crow Left of The Murder, "inconsistent"? Inconsistent maybe with boring bands such as Nickelback. This album was so intelligent and way beyond the realms of more mainstream artists.

Good review.

I like this CD much better than crow. i just wish quicksand could be a little longer.

I don't think it's their best work yet, it's missing something...

I like Kenney's work as much as I like Dirks. They're both great bassists and it's to cursorily to say that this record is not as good as their previous because of the exit of Lance.

yea i think kenney has def given incubus a new sound with his style of bass playing , its really different than Dirk's. I consider Dirk the better bass player bc of all his slaps and speed stuff in the early days, but Kenney is def good in his own way....btw what ever became of Dirk, id love to hear him play with someone new!
