i discovered this and live after death around the same time - someone that my father worked with had a son that had all their albums up to that point and my pops gave him a bunch of blank tapes to record them. i'll never forget the day he brought them home....

> I mean this is AT LEAST my third attempt and I know them somewhat as a by-product / from exposure as a youth, in addition. A long time in-between each stint.

Give Brave New World a shot. Or even just a track or two, totally different energy on that one. I fuckin' adore it. "The Mercenary". "The Wicker Man", "Out of the Silent Planet" if you want rippers, T/T for the best fuckin' leads this side of Killers, and the super underrated "The Nomad" if you're up for an epic.

I much prefer 7th Son and SiT to this. Same with Powerslave. This is obviously an iconic album with a few all-timers on it tho

The only maiden album better than this is powerslave. And that's a maybe. It's debatable

ONCE AGAIN. The average ratings are correct lol. Timeless album

Hallowed be thy name is probably their best track period. Title track, 22 ave, hills, and damned are also all at the very top of their catalog. Like literally half of their most iconic tracks period are on this album.

If you think this page is bad you should go look at the last 2-3 pages of Judas priest British steel. Like 10 of the dudes all grouped together giving it a 3/5 or lower for multiple pages saying it's bottom tier priest etc etc.

That's a funny one.

"some of the takes on this page are about as good as Italy's ice hockey team"

Italy won a game at the cricket WC, which I didn't think I'd see in my lifetime - so I'm thinking maybe they're pretty good at ice hockey also? (altho I'm guessing not, by this statement lol)
