I don’t think that’s relevant, metal is so broad & post-metal is just about the ‘least metal’ metal sub-genre, if such a thing existed. Semantics aside this album is incredible, but I actually listen to The Beyond & Salvation more these days, maybe even Eternal Kingdom (preserving greatness perhaps).

I find myself bouncing between them all. The debut is the one I come back to the least but it's still good.

Salvation slams too, but this one is right up there with it. No other album is better though.

well deserved. There's only two "post metal" albums that I like more than this one.

He's either counting Altar of Plagues as post-metal, or his ratings aren't very up-to-date.

If we're counting Altar of Plagues, and I'm not, its 3.

I like Wavering Radiant more. Somehow I didn't 5 that one.

Ah right, no I wouldn't count AoP myself.

I do often wonder whether I'd like some of ISIS' other stuff, I dig both Panopticon & Oceanic but don't rate them as highly as others seem to.

Wavering is by far the best production they ever had imo, so there is at least that.

I'd say WR is the best produced post metal record ever. Second? The final Dirge album...check that one brothers.

"I do often wonder whether I'd like some of ISIS' other stuff, I dig both Panopticon & Oceanic but don't rate them as highly as others seem to."

The earlier stuff is more raw, heavy, unpolished. I can dig Mosquito Control when in the mood, Celestial and the SGNL EP are also heavier than those albums you mentioned. I think the main problem is that this stuff needs time to grow on most peeps
