This is a thrash album and Paul Curcio was trying to turn it into an Arena Pop Rock sound for some ungodly reason.

The Arena Sound of the record. It sounds like there in a gymnasium and for me, Thrash shouldn't sound like that. It's at it's best when it has a separated sound that boosts the riffs, whereas here rhe instruments get lost in the echo. This is what Rasmussen understood with his trilogy with Metallica.



I don't even mind if they go mainstream. Bob Rockgave them a mainstream sound for Black Album and Load and it worked great. Curcio just had no idea what he was doing or what he was working with.

when i think of the classic thrash sound i think of kill em all, bonded by blood, darkness descends, so far so good so what, in the sign of evil.... they all have a super reverb heavy live energy mix.
