Stuck between a 3/3.5... Most of the verses on this don't do it for me.

itt: People who lionize musicianship and artistry but can't get down with a hip-hop song because it has "bad lyrics" between enjoying metal songs whose lyrics they couldn't give less of a shit about.
Also ppl who think it's intellectually consistent to isolate various lyrics apart from the stylistic intent of a song or the wider portrait of the artist.
I'm mad.

if you listen to hip hop for the lyrics ye isnt going to be your favorite artist
and thats fine im just saying, where he is a great musician is in his production
i mean i often find myself literally laughing at the fucking guy for the shit he says in a song while simultaneously absolutely loving it because it just ~*sounds so god damn good*~~~

I find that a lot of his more ridiculous lyrics stand out really humorously from the loftiness of the beats. Like the amount of sounds that lead to the verse about a model's bleached asshole is just something I can't really see anyone else doing

and i think at least most times the guy is self aware enough to know people are going to be giggling at lyrics like that
but even if he isnt who cares

Exactly. "This generation's closest thing to Einstein/So don't worry about me, I'm fine."
It's seven years after that South Park episode... (I think he's making a joke)

In a lot of metal songs you can barely make out the lyrics vs in hip-hop they're often a central part of the song. I mean this is pretty straightforward man

Hip-hop is a very expansive genre. "Often," I think, is the most important word in your comment ;)

waiting to see the opinions of people who actually listen to hip hop
i actually cant be the only person who thinks this is fucking garbage

Thank you, rabidfish. Vax, every time someone who considers themselves a "hip-hop head" hears a new iteration of the genre they dislike, they say something basically equivalent to what you just said. Elitist horseshit at its most self-deluding.

i consider myself a hip hop fan and nah im all for new hip hop shit but this is garbage yeah

I mean, people kill themselves with bleach. He's clearly making a nuanced point about the inevitable suicidability of celebrity excess.

Bruh what kind of shit are you on right now? As much as I like and defend Kanye on here, there's no defending that line. Like he isn't making any "nuanced point" or trying to be ~lyrical~ at all, Kanye means what he is saying quite literally. It's so bad that you can't just ignore it like you can with most of his other dumb lines.
