i remember being 11 or 12 years old and seeing opeth get talked up on sputnik. id never heard of them before. my arms your hearse made me think of a goth girl band or something. couldnt really pull shit up on youtube at this point either

and i ended up hearing the song deliverance on my grandparents' satellite musicchoice channels, not XM but the shit where they'd just play songs with no DJs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Music_Choice_channels



anyway i was mainly into maiden, metallica, slayer, that sort of thing so i thought deliverance sucked. didnt properly check out opeth til 9th grade when i had actually heard some death metal and prog rock and other shit that wasnt sold at hot topic
