"I grew up in these times, and I remember listening to Load/Reload/Garage Inc. after watching Terminator 2 and playing Road Rash as a kid. Just those days, man. It's too 90's for me to enjoy it fully nowadays. It's odd to explain because I have no nostalgia for this at all as with other albums I listened to at the time."
Though I didn't grow up in the 90s... I was super into all that same kinda shit as a kid. First CDs I ever bought with my own money were this and Use Your Illusion II (prob because of T2). My Mom used to drive my sister and I to this water park in Leesburg once or twice a summer when we were kids, and I'd always jam this album on my shitty ass ipod nano on the way there cause I knew I could fit the whole thing in. Nothing takes me back to being a 10 year old kid sneaking into my brothers room to play Madden and N64 podracer the way this album does. Same with watching the Cunning Stunts DVD like "I wanna be those guys when I grow up".

I remember Fuel is the song played in the opening of Hot Wheels Turbo Racing or whatever the fuck for Playstation and that changed the game for me

if metallica didn't change their sound and release load/reload they would be like those hilarious thrash bands that didn't fuckin go anywhere and kept releasing the same album. this album was crucial

It's a bit surprising to me that they refrain from performing nearly anything from this album anymore considering how popular it was and just how many fans today were introduced to Metallica by it.
Until it Sleeps hasn't been performed since 2008, Hero of a Day since the first S&M, Aint My Bitch since 1998, Bleeding Me (at a non-acoustic show) since 2009... even King Nothing had a 10 year drought.

Agree. Some bands even got better (e.g. Napalm Death)

I always took it as read that this and reload were shit, but I just realised that I have literally never listened to either from front to back
So, uhhh, I guess I should do that

as somebody who did grow up with the cliff Burton Metallica and was in high school when they jumped the shark to play mainstream hard rock, it was a huge let down I heard every album, but dismissed it immediately, not in the last 5 years have I been able to appreciate it, when you were in it it just didn't feel right
