And that's probably because his screams are less prominent. The short 2 minute bursts work well here, nice balance.

True, my problem with this one is that it just gets underwhelming after a while

I love Milk Lizard onwards, some of the first half is underwhelming. These guys are always going to be hit or miss for me, sometimes the vox grate (sans CI which is perfect in that respect), other times I just don't 'get it' but there are plenty of moments where it really works for me as well.

I've already surpassed the 'clicking' stage & now some of their stuff has gone full circle. This is the easiest front-to-back listen in their discog but I can jam CI as well, which is still awesome when in the mood for it.
This is definitely one of those bands I need to make a compilation playlist for, like my own 'best of'

The fucking overall average for this album is shameful. People being butthurt that it wasn't calculating infinity and being a departure even from Miss Machine and then never changing/revisiting their rating. HORSESHIT.

"The fucking overall average for this album is shameful."
agreed, but I think it mostly has to do with the featured review that might influence a lot of the low ratings.

From the review:
"Ire Works is just sort of poopy by comparison. On a whole, Ire Works is a boring reduction of their previous styles that fails to elevate the technicality, songwriting, melody, production, really anything, of the previous releases."
What? The guy that wrote this isn't even active on the site anymore, and his first GIGANTIC paragraph is basically just him/her jacking off to Calculating Infinity and MM like I basically said.
A boring reduction? Fails to elevate songwriting, melody or production?
Maybe, MAAAAAYBE it doesn't achieve the technical prowess of the last two but who cares. Compositionally it jumps clear over the bar.

well ngl i haven't listened to this album in a dog's age but i think the average is lower bc there's much less ferocity juxtaposed with their dirgy alt metal tunes on this
