Yeah, Spotify is good for listening to something, but Spotify probably won't help you to find it.

You don't have to pay to listen to the songs you want if you have a PC. :^)

Also helps i have an adblocker installed for Spotify

I only have a laptop from the early 2000s. Can't use Spotify at the moment.

And usually I look in related artsts for bands I enjoy. usually a good metric, but I've found some I wasn't too hot on at the same time.

@Kenbo
I'm paying at the moment because I can only use my phone, lol. I'll cancel it when I get a decent PC and do what Agent does.

Oh yeah I generally dont trust spotify to rec me stuff. Didn't even know that was a capability on slsk.

Honestly what's been most golden to me is a select few users on Sputnik whose taste I trust, and having actual conversations with them about what's good and what I should check that I haven't heard. People knock this place a lot but I know most users would be lying if they didn't admit to attributing a significant value to musical relationships forged on this very site.

Oh, when I said Soulseek was good I was only refering to good for listening to music (everything else I said was about just finding new stuff tho), not to find it... I don't think you can find new stuff with that thing, but I don't use it so eh.

Spotify rec's are 50/50. Sometimes the weekly playlist can be great, other times garbage.

I mean I typically don't expect much here if I'm asking for anything related to the likes of Phinehas or Miss May I bc that's obv not the type of metalcore people here like outside of those bands.

The ""best"" way to find new music is reading about some composer, find some name you've never heard before, listen to that dude. And then repeat until you stop finding new names and start again with another composer.

Yeah when I was laid off and had nothing but free time I'd just sit my ass at my computer for 10+ hours a day no joke and go ham on slsk and had my shit down to a T with my db as far as what I had and what I wanted to listen to. Now between kids, working 45 hours a week, gf and other hobbies, the ease of access of spotify is undeniable for me.

I only play videogames, watch films/series and listen to music. That's all I do (and eat, breath and bla bla bla).
