Listening to the new album now. It's better than the last three pieces of shit he has released but it's got nothing on his first three

Bad Guy and Evil Twin on the new album are both dope. It's honestly a decent album. The singles are misleading.

From what I've read and heard (outside of the singles), it's not close to the train wreck I thought it'd be but it's barely passable

I'll have to give a full listen though, but not sure when, don't really care

@gwyn don't expect it be anywhere near the quality of mmlp, because it isnt. it just has like 5 or 6 songs that are really good, a few average songs and some really shitty ones.

Obviously no way was it ever going to be as good as this so I'm not expecting that

Come to think of it I'm not sure what I was expecting tbh, but I'm a bit mixed and the more I think about the more I kinda wanna try it out

fvck

i give it somewhere between a 3 and a 3.5. songs like monster, asshole, and survival really drag the album quality down. but everything else is at least passable for me.

The low tracks are extremely horrible, but the rest is solid enough

2.5 is too low and 3 seems too high, therefore a very high 2

the new album is worse than recovery..the hits turned out to be the best songs... ffs. 3-4 good songs, and the rest is awful. The beats sucks so much almost on every song... average is the maximum for this.

@adr I can't agree with you there. you really think machine is better than bad guy and evil twin? i dont understand that at all. the singles definitely arent the best songs imo

i don't think it's at all as bad as people are making it out to be on here. i think the singles are pretty weak although rap god is decent if overlong.

there are some genuinely great tracks on it, and some intensely terrible ones. I feel like people think they have to badmouth this guy into oblivion. I mean, Kno released an album that had some of the worst lyrics I've literally ever heard and people were like aw this is pretty dope yeah lyrics are a bit wack but hey some of the beats are ok. Why does eminem get the hypercriticism? Don't say it's because you hold him to a higher standard you fucks because you've had 3 consecutive albums to lower your expectations accordingly.

I'm hesitant to say how much I like it at this stage because I liked recovery a lot on first few listens because it wasn't encore or relapse before realising it was pretty average. Solid 3 for now I guess. Love Game is a fucking gem, too bad it doesn't work at all in the context of the album.

For the criticism thing, it's a mixture between yes: a) the higher standards (it doesn't matter how many shitty albums an artist makes, people will always blindly hope they'll make another one as good as their/his best), especially with him naming the album a sequel to what most people think is his best album;

b) Em's ubiquosness in the pop culture, with him having a fanbase that's often incredibly infuriating at how little they know about hip hop and how much they THINK they know (That doesn't really affect me but I can see why it does to others, it sometimes gets difficult to hold the patience against people who can be so blindly devoted and the more you go against them the more antagonism you have against whatever they worship. It's a sub-conscience thing), and, directly related to the first point;

c) the more disappointed someone is with the result the more affected by it they are, partly they'll just keep wishing that, since they didn't get what they wanted the first time, they'll just scream in hopes they'll get it the next time (i.e. feedback, though not always constructive). I get the case for this one, I mean, Em has shown what he's capable of when he's really shooting high, and from what I've seen, there are moments in the new one where that side of him is really coming back, but then gets promptly taken away, he holds back a lot and it's frustrating to say the least. Add that with the already mentioned sequel named thing and it gets worse

All of that is just what I think anyway, obviously, and for the record I haven't heard the new album like I mentioned previously, but all the different views and stuff are really making me want to do it now.
