Lots of discourse lol

I think it's important to remember that Brat summer took, like, a solid month post-release to really get off the ground.

This thing was highly acclaimed as an album instantly upon release.

Hard to say where it will be in 15 years, but this is absolutely one of the biggest musical and cultural zeitgeists in recent memory. I would be shocked if it doesn't land on being on the most important records of the decade.

Cultural zeitgeist - fair enough (for a certain generation).

Musical zeitgeist? Don't see it. Nothing new or defining here.

I don't think the certain generation thing makes sense.

Colbert was doing the apple dance and a presidential candidate changed their social media campaign banner to the album's cover. Much digital ink has been spilled about the death of the monoculture, so it frankly does not get bigger than this these days.

Musical? That's still a bit TBD but this brings a lot of sounds and energy to the mainstream that don't really exist there. I also don't really think something needs to be completely new or groundbreaking to lay claim to a moment. Sometimes, all it takes to capture the imagination is being damn good.

i mean lets break down his comment

1. 'Hard to say where it will be in 15 years' - this is true, almost impossible to tell how this will be received or remembered in the future

2. 'This is absolutely one of the biggest musical and cultural zeitgeists in recent memory' - this is also true. i could go into details, but i will just mention that fact that the campaign of the possible future president co-opted it. You only need to read its wikipedia page to see all the accolades and chart success etc etc

3. 'I would be shocked if it doesnt land on being one of the most important records of the decade' - the meaning of this is quite unclear. Do they mean in their own opinion? In terms of cultural relevancy, e.g. when all the publications release their best of the decade lists at the end of year etc? Regardless, not really a ridiculous statement. could easily be on lots of decade end lists

I just dont see whats so ridiculous about that statement. I get not liking this, but this album has had shit tons of mainstream attention more or less globally

I'm almost completely on board with the cultural relevancy thing, just not the "musical zeitgeist" part.

It's just not that good. I'll shut up now. I do actually like the album.

remix album is def hit or miss as expected. the second half (starting at everything is romantic) is much stronger than the first half imo

basically every remix is an entirely new song except guess and girl so confusing which stick out a lottt in this context.

the big hits for me (of the new tracks) were: club classics, everything is romantic, rewind, so i, i think about it all the time, and 365

biggest disappointments were def sympathy is a knife and mean girls.

the Everything is Romantic remix is incredible yea. So I is pretty perfect too.

Sympathy sounds like a party banger now and I love it

Hate this new version of Mean Girls tho Julian sounds like a goofy on it

360 is one of my favorite songs of the year, but I really don't enjoy the remix at all. Some of them are cool, though.

i get its a "remix album" so it ultimately doesn't matter but i think it'd be better served with a reworked tracklist. not sure following the original order was the move
