"Don't pretend not liking good stuff you re not into with high standards. Dudes that 5 half dozen albums hide before this idea of standards."
"Too many 2-2.5s means you re doing something wrong with your free time."
what're you on about? I have no objective standards when it comes to judging music other than my enjoyment of it. me rating a half dozen albums a 5, or rating them a 2/2.5, is me rating exactly how I feel about those albums. my comment about standards was just a jab at how overhyped most sputcore is. if you honestly have 600 5's, good for you, but don't act like I have to be that generous too. I can't force myself to enjoy something that a lot of other people enjoy, like this, because that would make music discussion and discovery a lot less fun for me.
"Nah its the pretentious "I am above sput" attitude"
it is funny to poke the circlejerk agreed

Just curious: how many times do you guys listen to an album where you clearly don’t like it/hate it when your 2-3 songs in, but you just force yourself to the end?
I’m 100% with arf on this one, cause why bother?

@Stickfeit very occasionally I'll do that with a band like AJR, where it's essentially a musical gauntlet to laugh/feel some genuine revulsion towards. if its just some really bad and boring record that I'll never hear again, I usually know when to stop listening

"You mean, like how you're doing when someone on sput doesn't rate this album 5.0 like you?"
Nope. Don t care about the rate. Its what the dude said that count - "by that standard, get used to disappointment" (meaning a so called sput standard)
"5.0 is a masterpiece rating. A magnum opus. The highest normal score should be 4.5 (where album is already perfect), 5.0 is a notch above that. I do not think a band should have more than one 5.0 either for that exact reason. (Yes I know I gave Bach two 5.0 scores. I'm still at conflict with myself for that.)"
I get this 5 masterpiece statement, yet you can exercise to delve deep enough into a genre/subgenre you love and find out what you think its the best from it, and love it above them all (there s no such thing as the genre called "music" and certainly not on these days)
"Yeah at below 2.5 usually I give up and do a sub 2.5 rating before I'm finished with the album."
And yapz, although I have a few already I don t waste time forming a 2.5 (or less) rate/opinion either
Tks for the input arf, and I don t care or value you more for 5ing Bach, even if in conflict

"how overhyped most sputcore is" dude, music and sput is made out of fans. Get around that

Album Rating: 3.5
Nah you should probably at least give albums a once over, I don’t agree with the guy who said to abandon things after a few songs, it might grow.
Ledd is fine, he’s maybe a touch difficult to please but then so am I, that’s respectable. Also sometimes going out of your way to check things outside of your comfort zone is great, but can lead to lower ratings overall. Not saying that is what’s happening here, just a thought.

lol overhyped they say
sput is one of the most elitist music communities on the internet
once a year something comes around that a lot of people like a lot and we instantly get called out for overhyping something

oh plz, sputnik's tendency to jerk it to any non-scene core with enough chugs or dim. scale runs to fellate a dinosaur is a well documented blind spot in its otherwise surprisingly consistent knack of holding stuff up to some level of critical scrutiny now stop complaining about people shitting on ur cheap thrills and get out of ddd's drunkbuilt treehouse before someone else hurts my eyes trying to define elitism to a gatekeeping circle
