''Their new album has very few new and exciting ideas to offer''

I think their new one contains many fresh ideas actually. At least for them. Focus on orchestration, super diverse emotionally (the music even sounds downright Happy!), instrumentally, use of samples, eclecticism, the list goes on.

How does one love Still Life but think this is weak? Not saying this is better, Still Life might even be better but this is obviously in league with it.

I'm having another deja vu. This is the third time I'm having this conversation, I think?

"Opeth-like balance between prog and death... Truly a classic." Arnaud is The Man (all other users suck)

Peak Opeth for me. Mikael's clean vocals finally confident and mature. Fantastic growls. Perfect match between production and musical atmosphere. Never ending replay value.

Ghost of Perdition has proven to be hardest Opeth song for me to grow tired of with time.

YESSS!!! It's one of their absolute best. On many days it IS their best to me.

Probably the best mix between metal and prog ever.

My Arms Your Hearse when it ‘clicked’ absolutely blew me away but this even more so. It’s a richly layered masterpiece this one. I absolutely adore this band. Fucking hell.

I remember these exact moments zak.

MAYH clicked first, one particularly hot summer, and couldn't get enough of it. Still can't.

This one took a while, wasn't too sure at first, but one Sunday lying in bed late it just all fell into place. The interplay between riffs and that organ/the keys is incredible here. Perfect from start to finish. Hours Of Wealth is probably my fave non-metal Opeth period.
