I think there's just a ton to digest, like every Neurosis album, I guess. Hard to even articulate what I like about it.

Same. IDK why but for me this feels like their most melancholic/depressing sounding album...something which I don't feel with the rest of their discography and by which I would fathom is the reason why I like it so much.
At first this was a 3.5 for me but 2-3 more listens, this went to a 4 and after even more listens it elevated to a 4.5. Through Silver In Blood and Times of Grace are the only two in their discog I've 5'd but this album, Souls At Zero and Enemy Of The Sun (also a 4.5s) come really close to a 5 and would probably complete my top 5 favorite Neurosis albums at the moment.

This and Given are really starting to click hard today, wow.
Acme I agree, it is definitely their most melancholic and depressing. Others touch on a lot of similar emotions but this hits those feelings most directly.
I think a bit part of what I like about this so much is the space. The band is generally creating such dense atmospheres and the way they tackle the more stripped back sound is just as brilliant.
