best line

for anyone who hasnt heard it, that refrain is an interpolation of Mordet I Grottan by Sorskogen which was a one off prog project by Mikael and Dan Swano. one of the best songs of their respective careers imo

Hahah! I surely love my bath salts Hawks!

No, I don't know why. I almost never feel like spinning this anymore, must surely have been years since I listened to it from start to finish.

Whereas with Heritage, it has put a spell on me or something, I enjoy every second of it, it's adventurous, feels alive, has that god darn superb drumming, the beautifully mysterious atmosphere, etc.

Haha, no worries man!

I'll give this another go later tonight to check whether I have warmed up to it again. You never know!

Tbh both albums are well out of my rotation, but if I were to come back to one it'd be Heritage. This is album is wearyingly consistent whereas I remember Heritage having a more than a few neat surprises even if it misses the mark a lot

"Windowpane is a pretty cruel opener tbh, it overshadows pretty much everything else here"

I feel the opposite lol I think this gets better as it goes along.

"Heritage not your thing, then?"

Nothing against it, but not exactly. I remember it having its moments though (Folklore!); should revisit soon

Mainly because it's so relaxing. There's a sense of misery and dread on so much of this so when it comes on it's like the light at the end of the tunnel, that lovely bassline caressing your ears while Mikey gives his most soulful Camel impression does wonders.

Hmm nicely put, can definitely get into what you mean there

On a separate note, jamming Nepenthe rn and when did the bass in that song's midsection get so monstrous?
