Bloodmoon is amazing but yes I think that’s what everyone means. Tongues Playing Dead and Lord of Liars were really the only ones on that record that could pass for “normal” converge instrumentally.
Idk how everyone else feels, im definitely down for a second Bloodmoon record, but that’s not the band that we all loved. So im glad we’re getting a new record that’s just our four boys jamming before any more Bloodmoon.
Tbh tho man Daimon, Crimson Stone, Lord of Liars, and the title track are all among their best songs ever. I see Bloodmoon as a fun little side project. Ideally they drop this and tour fuckin extensively for it, then get back to the studio with Chelsea, Ben, and Stephen for a Bloodmoon II

Finally hward the new song and its good buy i feel a bit underwhelmed? Maybe thats because ive drifted away from the vicious angry metal

Def underwhelming for me too but also if it’s the baseline it still could be excellent

Its Converge it will be a solid release either way, the band has proven to be extremely consistent.

Yep. Considering Bloodmoon is a thing and seems like it may bear more fruit in the future, it makes complete sense for 'Converge' to ramp it up and deliver a concise, full-throttle slice of (almost?) old-school verge to satisfy our desires in the meantime. These reports are encouraging.
Idk if this is controversial (leaning yes because 'band can do no wrong' etc.) but hearing moody, sludgy, slow-burn Converge (again), isn't something I would ever actively yearn for. An occasional palate cleanser is nice in the context of their sonic assaults, but largely speaking, this isn't their appeal.

The way i see it you want batshit but a bit weird? Dillinger, you want face melted or room destroying riffs: Converge, want kinda rock but still with that heavy chaos: Cave in. Oh only the first two? Botch or calculating infinity
Also i did not care for bloodmoon

I hated Bloodmoon but I'd be open to hearing a second attempt if they actually wrote it together as one cohesive project instead of feeling like three projects haphazardly shoved together.

I remember checking this album out when the heaviest band I listened to was Avenged Sevenfold. Concubine scared the shit out of me lol.

Bloodmoon is far from their best, but I still like it a lot.

Compared to Iowa this is not even that heavy.

same lol, they’re both “metalcore” but going from Unholy Confessions to Concubine was for sure a bit of a shock haha

Yeah, I had to come back to it a few years later after getting into Dillinger. Even then it was still a grower.

and who gives a shit about how heavy something is? Jacob and Kurt were making better music when they were like 15 than fucking Iowa lmao

This is one of the most abrasive albums ive ever heard it doesnt matter if its "Heavy" this thing shreds and rips your face off

Yeah, this is a very different type of heavy to Iowa. Plus, Iowa has a lot of catchy choruses which this doesn't. So Iowa is a much easier album to get into. Both good albums though.

Yeah I’m not shitting on Iowa… it was never my kind of thing tbh, but to definitively state that it’s heavier than Converge is just kinda crazy tbh
